Bless you Jonah.<cool> Are you sure you wouldn't consider coming back to Shropshire. It is the best County on England and a person with your generous spirit would only help to enhance it's many attributes:-
The longest stretch of the longest(Amp would like that) river runs through the most fertile, scenic countryside.
Has best ladies and gents football team.
Best County cricket team.
Best Rugby team.
Best Synchronised Swimming Team.
Best tiddly winks team.
Oh! the list goes on and I'm sure there will be many contributions during the day. Wake up Shropshire.
This one is for the B.B.C. The best radio station. Good morning all. May be absent Dad's gone into hospital. Must go and guage it's rating.<peacedove>

Mornin' Pompom. Salop was nice, close enough to the Welsh border for all of those lovely motorcycling roads. Far enough from the hustle and bustle of Brum and the black country yet near enough should the need arise (Ikea etc).

Wem, I always liked that town.

;)

I hope all's well for your dad.

Pompom,

Shropshire only play minor counties cricket don't they? And which Rugby team do you mean? And Shrewsbury Town can hardly be classed as bset football team.

Ramslad being pedantic:) (to pinch your style of signing off)

Sorry, Ghostly. Forgot to say good mornin'.:)

Listening to a bit of classical music. Elgars Nimrod and Barbers Adagio for strings.

Get's me blubbing....especially when I think of war cemetaries.

Us Salopians know it is the finest county and never ever complain it is only the people who choose to settle that moan and yearn for their roots. Hello Jonah. I have got on here at last. Pom's gone to visit the father-in-law. He's a good Cockney bloke but sadly the alzheimer's has got to him. My Dad died years ago, never did see my children. Mum did but she too succumbed to the big C. Difficult times but that's life and at least the mother-in -law and I get on now! Now to see how long this will take to moderate.

You are right Ram. Done some research. Fantasising again. Got Lilleshall though. Ramsay trained the 1966 World Cup team there I believe.
Pompom hoping one day to get something right!<erm>

Is this thread limited to those with Master's Degrees in Fluent B*ll*cks or can we all join in.

Pom is quite wrong. Shropshire is the best because it doesn't have to go round bragging about what it's best at. Cricket team hasn't been any good since my mate Richard Tudor (who actually played for a major county once) was the captain - probably before anyone out there was born. Football teams are universally ordinary (a Jim Hawkins Radio Shropshire Big Day Out to Shrewsy Town Nil last year was the most heroically boring sporting occassion ever - so bad it was an unmissable experience). Didn't Craven Arms finish runner up in the National "Not Very Good Level Teams from Small Country Towns Cup" last year - and full marks to them. There was a girl who did very well at dancing.

Anyway what was this thread about? Will return if I ever find out.

Is there something in the water in Shropshire, it's bad enough trying to work out what Pompom is on about, now Lysis is starting. <laugh>

It's all about pride Woody. I'm glad they are coming out of the woodwork here in Shropshire. Of course we haven't got a Nottingham Forrest but there are plenty more attributes. Not least the Ludlow Lass who, with her partner from up north somewhere, stunned the viewing public with dance fever and the Thomas Telford School Dramatic pupil who will, not only open on Friday in the West End Musical Sound of Music playing Vonn Trapp's eldest daughter but will fill in for Connie Fisher on Dec 4th as Maria!. You may detect a lack of knowledge regards the names of these Shropshire Stars. Bare with me, I've only just learned Captain Wets name!<doh> but <magic>

Hi PomPom - would you happen to know whether or not this partner from "up north somewhere" you mention was partial to a dollop of clotted cream?

Good Morning Grumpy. Didn't manage to get the reply in before 10 pm. This is what I said I think? I had an evening of studying recipies on beeb shrops food and drink website. Skinny Eric's recommendations are conspicuous by their health value. You and I would probably prefer the dishes recommended by the fairer sexes on the radio station. We'll leave Reg and that dirty dancer to follow Eric's lead! This is the frivolous thread isn't it? I'm on the anti-smoking trail...........see you there.<biggrin>

Can't find the Rules and Regulations one. So this will have to do. <ok> Jonah.

Do you think Universities should increase there syllabus to include 'excuses' and 'common sense'?

Pom thinks that many employers would like someone with a degree in Common Sense. Not sure about the Excuses degree.
