Discussion:

Britain's worst city

What would you say is Britain's worst/ugliest/dirtiest city? Both Hull and Luton have been voted for similar accolades in the past, but my top 3 would be:

Stoke
Plymouth
Portsmouth

Discuss.

I wouldn't know! I've "only" lived in Stoke for 7 1/2 years, my fiance is a born n bred Stokie as are most of my friends!

Like I said, some bits are ok, some bits aren't! I know I wouldn't dare walk around Meir, Normacot, Bentilee etc after dark on my own, and sometimes even during the day! Shelton's not too bad, but maybe that's cos I'm used to it!

As for Hanley, it's getting worse, I seem to have people who deal in illegal substances outside my home at all times shouting at their mates to let them in which wasn't the case when I moved into this place 3 1/2 years ago :(

Meir or Normacot are no where near the worst places. Black Hill, Seventrent or Ladbrough are all far worse. I wouldnt dare walk round them during daylight.

Just a lil question, do you live in Stoke? If so, kindly tell me where these places are, as neither multimap, nor google, nor my fiance, our friends or his family have heard of them.

FYI Stoke wasn't "demolished" but yes it was bombed, especially Abbey Hulton, Birches Head, somewhere near Kidsgrove etc..... If Stoke was demolished then pray tell me how Bethesda Chapel is still standing.

Yes i have lived in Stoke for around 15 years now. I live about 2 miles south of Black Hill in a little village called West Horlath. If you havnt heard of that its close to Bishops Straddon railway station.

Plymouth by a mile and its also one of the poorest communities in north west europe but it is trying to improve. But at the moment it is being knocked back by loads of innapropriate speculative development. Nice setting though.

Im sure the purpose of adding discuss to the end of his message was for people to talk about and actually discuss his thread. As far as i could tell thats exactly what most people have done without taking offence at his harmless comments.

If you dont like what hes written your not forced to reply. Keep your petty, juvenile remarks to yourself and leave the message boards for people who have valid comments to make.

Don't you hate it when people offer nothing constructive to the conversation, other than to shoot down the original post?

Don't you hate it when (as above) people offer nothing to the thread other than to shoot down another posters comment.

Do you see where this ends up Monkey Chips?
