Opera cancelled for fear of offending Islam
The Deutsche Oper of Berlin suspended on Monday afternoon the operetta 'Idomeneo' after a recommendation from the Germany office of federal criminal investigation, which saw a danger of offending Islam.

The opera, composed by Mozart was taken to the public for the first time in 1971 and deals with the rise of men against God.

In the epilogue, Idomeneo, king of Crete, enters carrying the heads of Buddha, Poseidon, Jesus and Mohammed.

The BBC thinks it's OK to offend Christians - they did show 'Jerry Springer - The Musical' didn't they. Why don't THEY show this play to show how equal they are?

I'm afraid that I see people saying that the islamification of Christian countries is a big lie and I agreed with them but when I see this it makes me think once again as it should be shown and let them complain if indeed they ever do.

Who says blowing up people achieves nothing, terrorism works, hijack a plane and get a council house. Everybody is scared, sad but true. Jezz if the pope can’t say what he thinks what chance the rest of us.

We are even nervous posting messages about the subject.

Politicians disapprove of decision

Bildunterschrift: Großansicht des Bildes mit der Bildunterschrift: "The Marriage of Figaro" and "La Traviata" will replace "Idomeneo"

Interior Minister Schäuble said Monday from Washington that the theater's decision to cancel the work was "crazy" and "unacceptable." Wolfgang Börnsen, the culture and media spokesman for the conservative parties in parliament, compared canceling the show to an "act of prostration to the terrorists."

The theater's announcement will "encourage the radical scene to increase pressure and threats against Christianity and the occidental culture," Börnsen added.

The difference is simple. The Christians, Buddist, Hinus will not blow up your building or kill your people but the members of the peace loving islam will.

christianity has been around for long enough in reasonably freespeaking countries for its adherents to appreciate that either their believe is sufficient to withstand mischief and blandishments or it is a worthless sham. Islam is more sensitive because it is currently the victim of tons of ignorant illinformed prejudice and hysterical abuse. if our schools taught the basic tenets and gave our population an incite into its strengths as well as its undoubted oddities and out of date practices then maybe it too could be thrown into the hurlyburly of redtop abuse and mockery and hold its own.
