April seemed like a good time to start up again. Spring and all that. Renewal. So here I am again on Blogger and oddly enough on Collective as well. Wasn't it supposed to be closed by now? But it's good that it isn't.
No doubt lots of stuff has happened since I wrote this last, back in February. That feels like a long time ago though it isn't really of course. I'm struggling to find any major events other than one. Well, two, but the second only happened yesterday.
The first involves, is, my sister asking her new man to marry her. He said yes. They're still in central America. All very romantic etc, congrats Bat! Crazy stuff. I get the impression that it's going to happen somewhere in Wales during the summer. Should be a great party.
The second thing, the one that happened yesterday, was the arrival of new stereo speakers for my computer. Not just any old speakers, these ones rock. Audioengine A5s. I heard about their little brothers the A2s from the Radio Paradise homepage.
The A5s don't look like much; just two seven inch wide, ten inch high black slabs. But they sound remarkable. A life-changing thing. I don't have a stereo, I listen to all my music through the PC so a set of good speakers was, in the end, essential.
I love them deeply, them and the sounds they make. The purity. The richness. The range. Their sound will change my world.
I had no idea there was so much going on in the songs I enjoy. The whirs, beeps, twangs, in-drawn breaths, the enunciation, rustles, crackles. No booming bass, no distortion. It's just fab.
Oh, another thing that went on was and still is my attempt at a noirish photocomic, Under Grey Skies. I enjoyed doing that. I finished it ages ago but there are still about fifteen episodes to put up online.
