alas the site has been stopped. No room for editorial voices that didn't start in TV or radioland. No room for web-only brands in an increasingly fragmented media marketplace. are they right? who knows. It was fun while it lasted. thanks to all those who gave it their support, and to the wonderful team i worked with.

can computers spot good music?

is there a need for music editors in tomorrows world?

it seems MIT have developed a computer programme that can combine collaborative filtering, internet hype and audio analysis to predict if a track will be successful.

i guess this is a musical extension of the face-off between editorial staff and computers (choosing stories on the basis of certain measurable criteria). It's BBC News Vs Google news.

What do we think? Surely the human touch is ultimately more compelling.
