web contributor A little information about me? Are you sure? Mmm… Fell into writing after running a garage rock fanzine called Moral Sense a few years back with a pal. It ran features on punk rockers alongside interviews with artists like Damien Hirst and Gilbert & George managing to alienate both art and music camps quite effectively. Not bad for a quid though.
From this I got work at Manchester magazine Jockey Slut whilst working for their affiliated club Bugged Out! This meant a lot of travel around the world, watching people dance in various states of delerium, being sworn to secrecy about what DJs really get up to and smuggling obscure South American vampire wrestling movies through customs alongside staggeringly twisted 60s psychedelia. I just DJ as a hobby now running a little weekly night in Manchester and contribute features and reviews to the Manchester Evening News, Observer Music Monthly as well as Manchester’s very own Time Out, City Life where I’m the live music editor, a film and… ahem… restaurant reviewer.
I try and find my culture hidden under rocks and in weird places rather than just on the shelf which is where the internet comes in really handy in these streamlined times. See you at the bottom of the swamp. There’s got to be some pearls down there somewhere…
