hmm, not sure that the winning photo is the best one - it's wonky for a start.

Also, the compression on a lot of the photos is too high - you get blocky bits in the backgrounds...

It's not wonky mate! If you look at it properly you'll see that the posts are vertical. Just because the foreground isn't perfectly on the horizontal doesn't mean it's wonky does it? I think it's a superb photo and think it is just sour grapes from you. Perhaps you should grow up a bit!

It is a great photo. But in Frankie's defense, he wasn't at the Big Chill nor did he enter the photo competition, so I think we can assume it isn't a case of sour grapes. Just a difference of artstic opinion, shall we say?

Welcome to Collective by the way. If you write an introduction I can come and give you a proper welcome - also, you can give yourself a name by clicking on 'my details' on your 'my space' page.

Sorry, but if it's a difference of artistic opinion why does he say that it's Wonky, when it clearly isn't? I didn't actually say that it was sour grapes because he had entered himself, maybe it's because someone he knows may of entered or it was just that his favourite photo that didn't win. Maybe it's nothing to do with this at all, I don't know. The only point I really wanted to make was that the photo was given an unhelpful critique in my view. I am glad you like it too. Well done deceptive for a great photo. I hope that people take the time to give some constructive views on this photo.

I don't know why he thinks it's wonky, I'm sure you two will have fun discussing it when he returns from his holiday!

The standard of entries was really high, on the whole, and especially the shortlist. I expect it was pretty tough choosing a winner. What do you think of the runners up? Were you at the Big Chill yourself, and did you enter the competition?

here here, and re the compression - it's a balance between download speed and size i'm afraid. i think it's a worthy winner though there were loads of great ones to choose from.
