does adult education matter to the government?(permalink)

There is a training centre called MATREC on the Manor which may have to close to due to lack of fuding/money. This is a deprived area of Sheffield with a need for training centres. The loss of MATREC would have a huge impact on the area.

Why, when the government is so interested in training for school leavers, is it taking funding away from centres that are training adult learners? Some people in the area have problems with basic english and maths. Doesn't the government regard adult learners as in need of help?
