Led Lizzy meets The Beach Boys.

Tim Green of The F**king Champs isn’t known for his musical delicacy, so it’s surprising to find him at the controls of this offering by one-time Piano Magic-man Ezra Feinberg. Clearly inspired by Led Zeppelin at their most unintelligible and runic, Citay’s sound could loosely be described as proggy folk-metal: all chiming guitars, guitar solos and flutes that sound as though they’re being played by mystical pipers. There is some Thin Lizzy-style fretwork that bears Green’s fingerprints, and also echoes of Mike Oldfield and The Beach Boys. Perhaps it goes without saying, but it’s remarkable to hear an album which combines such disparate elements with so much grace.
