Röyksopp – Poor Leno (Wall Of Sound)
This is at least the third time Poor Leno has been released. The difference this time is that people know who they are now and they might shift some copies. Despite my cynicism, it’s a good track and the re-release features a remix by Silicon Soul, a live version of So Easy and the award-winning video by Sam Arthur. Which you can see here on Collective.

hi,
broadband.
The Jeevas – Ghost (Cowboy Musik)
Crispian Mills’ Jeevas release the second, more relaxed, single from their debut album 1234. “It sounds like three guys playing in a room,” says drummer Andy. On the other hand Crispian reckons it’s “like rock and roll’s answer to Forrest Gump”. Well obviously. The Jeevas are writing quite prolifically at the moment so you get two new B-sides – and they’re actually rather good.

The Music – The Getaway (Hut)
Another impenetrable wall of guitars from The Music, with Robert Harvey’s voice being catapulted over it like a US air strike. The third single from their disappointingly samey debut album, it’s a bit like U2 played at 45rpm. The label are doing that gimmick thing, designed to get a high chart position in the first week by releasing and deleting the single on the same day. The CD also includes the video directed by their producer Jim Abliss.
A – Something’s Going On (London Recordings)
American punk garage rock. There’s a lot of it about so it has to be pretty special to impress me. This band aren’t and it doesn’t. Imagine a song by The Police, take away the good interesting bits, replace them with some boring pub rock guitars and that’s what you get. Turgid. Matt Walton 14 November 02
