Can't recommend this book enough. It's an in-depth look at film makers (and the films they made) in the '70s. That the author managed to extract such frank interviews from those around at the time is an amazing feat in itself and leads to some very amusing and telling insights - arrogant stars, hardball studio execs and lots of sex and drugs. The book starts around 1970 and finishes in the early '80s, so the reader gets to live through the rise and the fall of those that started the decade as wunderkind directors and ended it as coked-up megalomaniacs. Also interesting to note that ultimately it was the ones who kept their noses clean (Spielberg, Lucas) whose success continued into the '80s and beyond...
