Ex-lamb not sheep.

Earth mother and front end of nice-drum-&-bass outfit Lamb, female singer-songwriter Lou Rhodes flies solo here, swooping in on the noughties’ continuing penchant for softly-softly folk and pastoral imagery. But this is no winsome nonny-nonny: Rhodes’s by turns sparse then lush acoustic arrangements and brittle voice are beguiling, once you forgive her the occasionally too earnest, whole-earth worthiness of her lyrics. Fragile yet ultimately substantial and beautiful, this paean to love is worth getting off with.

I so agree! Why on earth do 'artists' like James Blunt get SO much publicity and air time when there is real talent being virtually ignored. Why does the BBC refuse to give airtime to a mercury nominated artist and play such bland crap instead? Is it because independant small labels can't pay enough to get on the playlist? By the way - her new album 'Bloom' is out and is AMAZING. Give it a listen...

Just discovered Lou after years listening to Lamb. The album is exquisite and really looking forward to seeing her live later this month in Manchester - especially after the comments by people who have already seen her.

What a strong Artist, what a powerful voice, what spirituality. It was great to see Lou in Madrid (http://femme06.com/),... at least for the happy few among us who paid her all our attention. Thank you, Lou, for not losing the countenance when the sound was too low and parts of the audience were not sensitive enough to listen. They missed an excellent opportunity to shut up, especially during the tracks "Gabriel" and "Beloved One".

I was lucky enough to get tickets for the sage at Gateshead gig after seeing Lou on the daughters of Albion prog.
Her version of Pj Harvey's"Down by the water" blew me away so I bought her cd and loved it.
But the gig... Wow! her voice is really powerful and moving live and she has a cracking band playing with her.
Have started investigating her stuff with lamb now. Fantastic

God this is a great great cd, saw her on the Daughters of Avalon, then bought Beloved One, hardly off my player. Now have Between Darkness and Wonder by Lamb, also good apart from the drum and bass tracks, which is not my thing. l might be in love.

I saw Lou play in Birmingham the other night. I thought she played a fantastic set, with a really talented band. I don't think she transfers to cd very well though. It just loses some of it's originality

Lovely music - Her voice has an ancient anglo timlessness that fame could only destroy. The lyrics are raw emotive and as powerful as the sun.Yet delivered through a voice that quivers on a tightrope of the abyss of obsessive love and the safety wire of self preserve and spiritual emancipation.
This lady has something special- I could listen to her forever.

Perfect, pure and beautiful music. The instuments just add to the enchantment of her voice. Where has she been hiding!
Makes me you wonder how the 'wailing' sounds of David Gray and James Blunt have been able to infest our lifes with their emotional sqaukings, when this stunning music combines every emotion, stunning vocals and doesnt try to pierce your ear drums at the high notes.
GORGEOUS

Very nice. Very sincere. Well recorded and produced. "Beloved One" is quite good. "Each Moment Now" doesn't appeal to me quite as much, but I do like it.
