The Bellrays - They Glued Your Head On Upside Down (Poptones)

What a title! Wait until you hear the chorus... From the same label as the Hives (Alan 'Creation' McGee's Poptones) it has a similar amount of crazed fun but lacks much depth. But hey, 'They put your whole damn head on wrong' - absolute genius.

System Vertigo - Twisted and Broken (Silent Poetry Records)

Bristolian moody down-tempo string-ridden electronica from Jimmy Galvin with Portishead's Adrian Utley, Jim Barr and Clive Dreamer lending a hand. Twisted and Broken precedes the forthcoming debut, Suburbia Kills.

Dinah Washington - Is You Is Or Is You Ain't My Baby? (Rae and Christian Mix) (Verve)

Taken from classic jazz label Verve's remixed album, Is You Is... is quite possibly the standout track. Grand Central's Rae and Christian do the honours and it should get you dancing like an absolute b*st*rd to them there horns.

Snow Blind - Easy Girl (Independiente)

Classic pogoing, female-fronted indie, but with a bit more to it. The B-sides aren't bad either. In a feel-good Belle and Sebastian vein, it's sugary sweet and will make you feel like a pimpled, loved-up sixth former again.

The Prodigy - Baby's Got a Temper (XL)

The first single from the firestarters in five years and there's nothing new. As well as courting controversy by refusing to supply Radio 1 an edit due to the mention of date-rape-drug Rohypnol, it's also got that 'wneehhhaanaweeaanaa' noise in it. You'll know what I mean when you hear it. Like an embarrassing dad, it's all a bit unnecessary.

The Vines - Get Free (Heavenly)

Raaaaaaaawwwwww! Let's rock! Very short and not in the slightest bit sweet, these Aussies are angry. Very angry. MW 02 July 02
