City Rockers, by name and by nature. Every once in a while, a gutsy independent record label comes along that alters the whole topography of dance music. In a landscape where superclubs are crumbling and lovers of dance music sit poised for something new to happen, City Rockers has grabbed clubland by the balls. When the label was set up in 2001, sure it had the intention of providing a different sound, but it's unlikely they'd have predicted quite the stir they'd cause. With the aim of showcasing FC Kahuna as residents, they launched a monthly Saturday night at the unlikely London Bridge venue Cynthia's Robot Bar, called 21st Century Body Rockers. It was an instant sensation in the dark, chrome-lined venue more familiar with moody UK garage nights than credible column-inch earners. And the good news is: they're taking their show on the road. The idea was only to do nine monthly parties, which would mean you only have two more chances to get down to Cynthia's on 10 August or 14 September. Instead, prepare to have your body rocked in a city near you. JK 08 August 02 21st Century Body Rockers useful links: www.cityrockers.net
