Kids director Larry Clark returns with his latest study of teenage depravity and America gone wrong. Based on a true story, the film follows the progress of a bunch of affluent, white, high school dropouts who decide to kill the bully of the group played by Nick Stahl (In The Bedroom). Clarks documentary-style camerawork cleverly combines images of humdrum Americana with gut wrenching violence and more than a splash of nudity, to create a realistic, semi-titillating, semi-repulsive cocktail. Provocative stuff. Particularly when you know that the cast isn't exactly made up of Hollywood darlings. Infact Brad Renfro, who plays the lead, actually tried to pinch a 45 foot yacht from a marina during the shoot, he'd have got away with it if he'd remembered to untie the rope. Too much dope does that to you I guess. AL 2 March 02 Bully goes on general release Friday 08 March. A UK DVD release is expected this summer. useful links: interview with Larry Clark
