![]() guy x
X doesn’t mark the spot. Like its central character, Guy X is hampered by an identity crisis. It starts off likeably enough, as an offbeat black comedy about hapless soldier Rudy Spruance (Jason Biggs). The poor chap is accidentally stranded in a Greenland military base, and his pleas that he is not a certain Martin Pederson are falling on deaf ears. But suddenly it lurches into an altogether darker conspiracy, which would all be fine and dandy if you weren’t left thinking “Was that it?” as the film rushes to tie up its loose ends in the last five minutes. A little more bite would have made this movie the anti-war satire it so wanted to be.
