It’s all here: local UFO spots, a portrait of serial killer John Wayne Gacy Jr and shout-outs to sleepy backwater towns (Bushnell, pop. 3,166). …Illinoise! veers between sad reflection and effervescent, almost manic joy. The title track resembles a music class run wild, with chaotic jazzy flourishes and beautiful, face-shining wonderment.
