Muscular punk-funk and swirling cinerama. Although Marc Nguyen Tan’s second album under his Colder nom de guerre doesn’t quite resonate with the shock of the new that his mighty debut, Again, did, it still packs a foreboding and paranoid punch. Utilising once more the dense gothic electro dub and Krautrock grooves that characterized Again, Heat adds muscular punk-funk on To The Music and swirling cinerama on Your Face. Granted, cool detachment pours from every sinew, but rarely is music both this alluring and disturbing, making Heat far too good to leave in the hands of posturing hipsters alone. Colder – Heat, released 11 July 05 on Output.
