Intricate downtempo electronica. God knows why there’s a huge skull on the cover of this South African producer’s new album, but if any metal fan buys it on the strength of that alone then they’re in for a surprise. Because instead of the Satanic rock said image suggests, Dark Days Exit is full of beautifully embroidered and intricately detailed downtempo electronica. It’s hardly a Damascene revelation – unless you’re one of the aforementioned metalheads, that is – but Dark Days Exit’s all-round unabashed loveliness could possibly convert even the most misanthropic Marilyn Manson fan.Felix Laband - Dark Days Exit, released 27 June 05 on Compost.
