Having previously been transformed from trip-hop also-ran to dancefloor diva, courtesy of Boris Duglosch’s Sing It Back remix, Moloko vocalist Roisin Murphy once again proves her chameleon qualities by hooking up with Matthew Herbert. But while Herbert’s production remains as experimental as ever, Murphy’s catchy choruses mean that this is really a pop album – albeit of an utterly unique kind. If We’re In Love is easily as infectious as Sing It Back and, although there’s zero chance of it soundtracking Ibiza in the same way, that’s ultimately the island’s loss.Roisin Murphy - Ruby Blue, released 13 June 05 on Echo.
