The monkeys mean business. The kids went bananas for the cartoon capers of Gorillaz’ debut long player back in 2001, and it looks like this multi-starred follow-up is primed to make pop pickers part with their moolah. D Albarn and co have hooked up with notorious master-mixer Danger Mouse on a production that features a loopy line-up of guests, from Roots Manuva, Ike Turner, Shaun Ryder, and Neneh Cherry to, erm, Dennis Hopper. Aiming for a darker, heavier sound these monkeys have drafted in some stellar silverbacks for a weird pop anomaly that’s well worth an earful. Gorillaz – Demon Days, released 23 May 05 on Parlophone.
