Vaudeville hip-hop from Madlib’s alter ego. Quasimoto’s stoned and sprawling debut long-player, The Unseen, is now generally regarded as a cult masterpiece. Two years on, the MC – actually the nasal alter ego of auteur hip-hop producer Madlib – is back with more cartoonish antics. The blunted, rambling quality of his debut is still in evidence, though the smoky jazz haze has been replaced with more vaudevillian audio theatre: comedy sketches and madcap samples matched to dusty drums and eccentric rhyming to create a THC-soaked version of De La’s Three Feet High… Breathtaking.Quasimoto - The Further Adventures Of Lord Quas, released 02 May 05 on Stones Throw.
