Mixing it up with the artist formerly known as Manitoba. London-based Canuck, Dan Snaith, released two albums – the first cool and glitchy, the second more ecstatic and exploratory – under the alias Manitoba, before threatened litigation forced a name change. Following a challenge by one Dick Manitoba (of pensionable NY punks The Dictators), Snaith now operates as Caribou. However, that’s as far as compromise goes for this adventurer, whose third LP draws on electronica, baroque, English folk, hip-hop, Krautrock and psychedelic pop in its irresistible drive for exuberance and abandonment. A sweet, free-range hybrid, if ever there was one. Caribou - The Milk Of Human Kindness, released 18 April 05 on The Leaf Label.
