It’s got some of the best graphics on any console to date, the most atmospheric settings and music and sound effects, and the most compelling game play since Zelda on the N64. The level design, the zombies and the bosses all constantly surprise. I started to play the game by picking a spot and just shooting anything that came near, but as you will find out this is not how you play. Although it may initially seem daunting when there are hoards of zombie farmers after your blood you have to get involved in the level as you take out your targets. Eg crash through windows, knock down ladders get up towers and use the rifle etc. oh yea and keep an eye out for treasure to sell to the trader for better hardware. Its 110% pure entertainment, the way games should be. Everything in this game exudes quality. And there seems to be no frustration involved in seeing it through. That’s not saying its easy, or short, but its constantly a joy to play and most levels and bosses are beatable on a second or third attempt. If you die you can usually wade straight back in from the continue screen. I say 2nd or 3rd time attempt because the first time you see the bosses you will just stare at the screen slack jawed in amazement. The combination of some massive & imaginatively created monsters, near CGI quality graphics, thundering sound and blockbuster action style camera effects deliver an astonishing experience. The end game stats indicated that I had played for over 21 hours (it felt longer Its a 2 disk game, I wonder does this include the contiues?) and had killed over 900 zombies and monsters. Once finished there are also some nice suprises to keep you coming back. Capcom, who have been though a rough financial patch recently deserve a pat on the back for this it is brilliant, just go get it, and enjoy it. Though you may have some nightmares after playing. The spikey vesion of the regenerator zombies particularly freaked me out. if you haven’t got a GameCube but want to play this I’ve seen them second hand now for £40-£50 quid. Go for it, you wont be disappointed. Brilliant.
