The intense Scottish post-rockers’ BBC sessions. With a little help from John Peel’s patronage, Mogwai brought prog rock to the indie kids and perfected the “quiet, quiet, quiet, loud, very loud, quiet” model of guitar-driven instrumental catharsis. Although never known for their brevity, Mogwai don’t meander for the sake of it, as demonstrated on these tightly-plotted session versions of the finest tunes from their various studio albums and EPs.
