Fabulous graphics at London’s Kemistry Gallery.

You know something is good when it sells out in three days. This is Parra from Amsterdam’s first one-man show. With one foot in the work of Terry Gilliam and the other in skate graphics, the self-taught Dutch artist creates posters that kids from Holland search the streets to tear down and keep.

Parra is a graphic artist who defies compartmentalization. His one-off digital prints fuse illustration, typography and graphic design in their own curvaceous way. There’s a touch of 60s psychedelic and Polish graphics but his approach is modern and very funny.

Images include a pear with legs pinging a woman’s thong, a running aubergine, and shouting text posters with slogans like Don’t Believe The Type or This Is Not America. The politics are there just under the surface but Parra’s work is more ironic. Fluid, fabulous and unique.
