Unafraid of overexposure, hip-hop cult hero MF Doom releases his umpteenth album of the past 12 months, but the first under his principle alias since 1999’s Operation Doomsday. Reverting to self-production after the Madvillainy project with Madlib, his playful face is thrust forward as Mm.. Food crams in more nosh-related puns and samples than can be comfortably digested in one sitting. Although instrumentals and guest appearances mean Doom rapping less, this still ranks among the best work of a genuine auteur. Delicious.MF Doom – Mm.. Food, released 29 November 04 on Rhymesayers.
