Less gobbing, more glitterballs. On paper, a collection of hardcore punk covered in a glitch-house style might not immediately tickle your hips, but Drew Daniels likes a challenge. As one half of Matmos, he once built an entire album from samples recorded during plastic surgery operations. Here he turns the abrasive, noisy-bugger originals into bouncy, bleepy house tracks. Minor Threat’s abstinence anthem, Out Of Step, is reconfigured as party electro while a funky 2-step cover of Crass’ Do They Owe Us A Living? shows it’s but a moonwalk from discordant to disco. The Soft Pink Truth – Do You Want New Wave Or Do You Want…, released 01 November 04 on Soundslike.
