![]() coffee and cigarettes
Jim Jarmusch is all talk. Jim Jarmusch’s achingly hip, deadpan, monochrome vignettes with movie stars, musicians and oddballs (some, like Iggy Pop and Tom Waits’ ornery diner, dating from waaay back) are an acquired taste. Updated and compiled, there are notable highlights – beautiful turns from Cate Blanchett and Bill Murray – but too many clunkers show that he’s smoked this project down to the filter. It’s telling that the best of the lot has Englishmen Alfred Molina and Steve Coogan politely clashing over a pot of tea. Coffee And Cigarettes, on selected release 22 October 04.
