![]() sky captain and the world of tomorrow
Style over substance. An alternate 1939 where giant robots invade New York and Jude Law’s dashing pilot and Gwyneth Paltrow’s plucky reporter swoop to the rescue. Shot entirely on “blue screen” it’s cutting-edge retro, bathed in the light of overworked computer drives and the sepia glow of nostalgia for pulp fictions that its target audience knows little about. And resurrecting dear, dear Larry Olivier as head baddie, Totenkopf, is technology at its most sinister. Decidedly average storytelling but great for screen savers.Sky Captain And The World Of Tomorrow, on national release 01 October 04.
