Our pick of the new music that's coming your way. da art of storytellin’ pt 4 (grand hustle) Taken from DJ Drama’s Gangsta Grillz mixtape, Da Art Of Storytellin’ Pt 4 brings Andre 3000 and Marsha from Floetry together for a slow burning number, complete with beautiful horns and rich organs. Brilliantly produced, expertly sung, but the real joy here is the sound of Andre rediscovering his love for rap. SY u.r.a. fever (domino) Five years ago The Kills were the pinnacle of cool, a smouldering boy/girl duo taking guttural rock ‘n’ roll around the country’s smokiest clubs. Then frontman Jamie Hince found himself at the same crossroads as many an indie troubadour before him - to “keep musical integrity” or “boink Kate Moss”? Needless to say, The Kills now sound like Garbage (the band).DJ going places (carpark records) Wanting to encapsulate the feel of international travel for his new LP, out 17 December, Montreal's Montag asked for people to send in their own sound clips from across the world. Cramming 70 of them together into one song, this is an impressionistic pop postcard of shoegazing guitars, analogue synths and overheard voices that makes you wish you were there – wherever that may be. PC listen boy4rmdaends (bush girl) Tawiah’s debut EP is due to emerge in February next year, when you can hear a tougher version of this track dedicated to a buff boy from round her way. This ‘live’ version posted on MySpace is looser, jazzier, showing its street lust singsong in all its natural glory.SY black glass (lovepump united) California’s Clipd Beaks bring a great whirl of cacophony propelled by pounding drums and thuds of thick, sludgy bass. Singer Nic Barbeln’s caterwaul has already seen them compared with Liars, but Black Glass has a queasy, catchy charm all of its own, and is an excellent suggestion of the bedlam that awaits on their current Hoarse Lords album.NN holy disaster (stolen recordings) Screaming Tea Party, based in London but hailing from Japan and Italy, play shows wearing gas masks, but it’s the sheer quality of their output that most deserves the attention. Holy Disaster shows off the gentler side of their sometimes furious art-rock, and forms a similarly dreamy, waltz-timed companion piece to Cracked Up Dietrich, which closed their debut EP. CP 1000 things (kitsune) The lead track from this ever-so-trendy London electro group’s current EP begins with squelchy acid madness. Then the vocals come in and sound like Bernard Sumner’s trying to drag you away from the dancefloor for some deep and meaningfuls, before you shake him off and plunge back into the rave again. PC Tips by: Paul Clarke, David Jones, Nick Neyland and Steve Yates.
