Quality downtempo mix for reliable club series. Cumbrian DJ/Producer Andy Turner, aka Aim, is a class act. He has an ear for a slick hip-hop groove with melody and he’s obviously not short of a few decent records either. Here, James Yorkston’s folky St Patrick, A Tribe Called Quest’s Award Tour and Bloik’s filthy electro jazz cut, Loungin’, snuggle up to an ample dose of retro funk and psychedelia, including the oft-sampled Today by Tom Scott and The Byrds’ Wasn’t Born To Follow. The result is a good-vibes mix for connoisseurs and lifestylers that’s a cut above the rest.Aim – Fabriclive 17, released 16 August 04 on Fabric Records.
