Folk for moody headbangers.

Once again, Domino, home to Franz Ferdinand, presents the highs of Scotland. Two lasses and two lads with different parents, Sons And Daughters sound more like a folked-up version of their sexually yelping label mates, The Kills, than art school Franz. They stole their name from a Bob Dylan lyric after all. Forget seated strumming, from the racy drama of Johnny Cash to the eerie ramble of La Lune, it’s folk for headbangers. The only let-down is that they only give us seven tracks.

Anna Chapman 09 July 04 rating of 4 and 1/2
Sons And Daughters - Love The Cup, released 12 July 04 on Domino.
