The Thames link viaduct now has Planning permission, but no funding,
If it does get funding it will be a disaster for Borough Market, with large parts of the market moved ,buildings being demolished and dust flying around hardly the right conditions for selling food,

During the Potters Field's public inquiry Julie greer(southwark council)
told Mr. village (QC for Berkeley homes), that the Thames link viaduct had consent ,That doesn't mean its got the go ahead ,there will probably have to be another public inquiry

It now transpires that last Friday 25/6/04 network rail have submitted the plans for the replacement buildings ,which horrifically for any one that knows Borough Market ,are the whole of Green Dragon Court including every thing between Borough Market and Borough highstreet,as well as parts of Stony Street and and the rear of buildings on Park Street where the viaduct will cut through

After the last inquiry Network Rail were told to create a visualization for the Borough high street side of Green Dragon court as a prioraty, for public consultation before the inquiry, but not the Borough Market side which is the important place with its own special atmosphere.

I asked when I was at the Thames link exhibition last year and they said they had no images of that.

I don't see how The general public could evaluate the impact on the market without this.
In order to return there comments on the forms they were giving out at the exhibition.

At the Inquiry Network Rail have produced an arbitrary visualization that partially shows the market side from an oblique angle. .but the look of that side of the building still hasn't been prioritized.and from there visulisation is a facles wall of steel.

No wonder they withheld this from the public at there exhibition.

Pictures of Green Dragon Court Borough Market as well as what I see as the deficiencies of the scheme on Tooly street and Blackfriars station.
And a link to the Thames link 2000 inquiry 2005

The Borough Market side of Green Dragon Court is the important place with its own special atmosphere .not the High street side that no one looks at.

Also the Olympic torch was supposed to have gone down Stony Street and Park Street past the newly restored and painted old market and the newly constructed Floral Hall at Borough Market, on Saturday 26/6/04 but was diverted away , because a parked car was blocking the route,
hhmmm suspicious that isn't it.may be network rail don't want people seeing how nice the market now looks
I took a lot of photographs of the newly reconstructed Floral Hall Borough Market in all its glory at

The reason they were discussing Borough Market at the Potters Fields public inquiry was because Mr. Village was questioning Julie Greer about the Shard of Glass in relation to Southwark Cathedral.

A slight diversion from the subject of the inquiry.

Berkeley Homes want to build a complex of 8, 19 story residential towers by Tower Bridge.

Southwork Council who own half the land want a cultural development on a more appropriate scale for the area ,and providing the same sort of prestige as the Tate Modern ,and has refused planning permission .

Berkeley Homes appealed .

I spent a substantial amount of time at the inquiry

see London the more compelling choice
