And then, like, I was told to read this book, and it was, like, called No Logo or something, y'know? And it was like, well, there was like, no story, y'know? Just, like, graphs and stuff. Man, what kind of book is that, huh? So, like, y'know, I just listened to Tool and stuff, cos they're cool, and I have this rare recording of them playing, like, Pink Floyd or something. Y'know, like that song, Comfortably Numb? That's cool, y'know? Better than the Excisor Sisters cover, man, or whatever it is they're called. Tool are cool, they rock. When I was downloading that cover, I was on this forum, y'know, like on the internet? and there was this dude talking about this book. Said it was real clever, and y'know, critical of the government, man. I kinda like stuff like that, cos I'm pretty counter-culture, y'know? Anyway, so it's called Jennifer's Government, or something like that man. And it's cool. You can, like, read it when you're stoned, and it's not too complex or anything? Like, all the characters, they're pretty simple. Oh yeah, dude, the book's about, like, this future society, only it's pretty much like now, y'know? And all these corporations, they like run the world, dude. And the United States of America, like, covers most of the world dude. Like, there's United States of America (Australia) and United States of America (Indonesia). That's pretty cool, too, cos everyone speaks the same, and you get a Starbucks, like, wherever. That's just like Seattle wherever you go, y'know? And cos everywhere is the United States of America, well, y'know, almost everywhere, cos like Europe and Parisfrance aren't, y'know?, they're still like communist and stuff, everything is privatized, even the Government, dude! That's pretty radical, cos the police don't dig on stoners unless someone contracts them to. Although, if you don't have a job, there's like no welfare, which kinda sucks. I wouldn't'a been able to tell my boss at Walmart that he sucks, cos I'd have no money to get high. That would suck. So, anyway, in this book, there's this guy, works at Nike. Oh, dude, get this, he's like, called, Hack Nike. Cos, you don't have a family name man! Get this, where you work, that's like your last name. So, like, there's this chick called Violet, and she has no last name, cos she's got no job. And then she sells this virus thing, like for a computer? to an oil company, and then she changes her name to Violet ExxonMobil. So, there's this guy, Hack Nike, and he's a dude who sends posters and stuff to stores. Then these executive dudes, both called John Nike, they contract him to run a new marketing campaign for the new Nike sneakers. And like, he only has to shoot kids who buy the trainers. Cos, like, man, this is a bummer, remember in the nineties, when kids would get killed for their sneakers? Like, these executives, they're thinking, get some kids killed, suddenly everyone wants your trainers. And then, like, Hack can't do it, so he goes to the police. And instead of arresting anyone, the police like take over his contract, dude! And then this communist fed, she's called, like, Jennifer Government, starts investigating. After that, it's pretty fast stuff, although, dude, remember I said it's not too complicated? There's all this political stuff in it, like, pretty deep political conversations. Like, this dude, called Calvin Government, he's like, "how can you tax people and take their money, dude?". Oh yeah, that's cos like, with the Government privatized, there's no tax. Pretty cool, huh? Although you have to give your Amex number when you call the paramedics, which would bum me out, cos like, I can't remember my Dad's card number. But, y'know, don't let that deep political stuff put you off. It doesn't go on too long, but it's pretty interesting. Like, they say in Parisfrance that you pay tax but you get these things off the Government, and people like it. So, yeah, the book's pretty good. I even forgot to take a hit from the bong, man, and I'm pretty sure I got angry once about something?, but I don't remember too much what it was. When's that new Douglas Copeland book coming out, anyway?
