Once impossible to find, now re-released. Dogs is folk songstress Nina Nastasia’s impressive debut album which, until now, has been pretty much impossible to find, released as it was on Nina’s own small indie label, Socialist Records, on the other side of the Atlantic. It’s recorded by the legendary Steve Albini (Nirvana, PJ Harvey) and features a beguiling mix of acoustic guitars, honest Americana vocals, subtle strings and other warm folky instruments. There are some beautifully sad melodies here, without mournful indulgence, but with a strangely infectious quality. Delicate and lovely.Nina Nastasia – Dogs released 07 June 06 on Touch And Go Records.
