Buck 65 collaborator’s dark solo effort. The post-rock hip-hop crossover constructed by this Canadian producer initially seems very elaborate and imposing until you realise that, like some musical Escher drawing, it doesn’t really lead anywhere. So the genius lies in details, like the fuzzy guitar that snakes through Boxcutter Emporium Pt 2, or the way the angry rant that begins Horse Drawn Carriage bleeds into a beautifully drawn out guitar line. But when the foundation beats on which they are built sound so ramshackle, the overall structure can’t always bear the weight of ideas. Sixtoo - Chewing On Broken Glass & Other Miracle Cures, released 17 May 04 on Ninja Tune.
