A colourful supplement to Coxon's career. You just know Coxon was always the coolest dude in Blur. Sure, he plays up to his introverted, geek-boy persona, but this LP is certainly the most endearing and accessible of his solo efforts. It's a range-y record: from the cinematic country of Are You Ready?, to the scuzzy Blur-esque Spectacular, to the string-inflected sweetness of All Over Me. Plus, Coxon’s penchant for rhyming couplets results in the line, "You're very pretty and you're tanned/But I'd rather sleep with my right hand", on the Beck-influenced Bottom Bunk. A thoroughly British record, spiked with pop perfection. Graham Coxon - Happiness In Magazines, released 10 May 04 on Transcopic.
