Hark, the soundtrack to a thousand achingly hip internet cafes approaches… New Young Pony Club's tight basslines and detached, ice-cool, occasionally risqué wordplay (licking, sucking and jerking-off are fave themes) convince on the catchy as hell singles Ice Cream and The Bomb, but flag a tad over a whole long player. Frontwoman Tahita Bulmer is a bit of a one trick **** in the voice department. And while they're by no means ****-and-trap, NYPC's restrained disco needs to rip it up and get wilder, cos this down‘n’dirty posse is actually cleaner than a Boots cosmetics counter.New Young Pony Club – Fantastic Playroom, released 09 July on Modular.
