A second crack of the American Whip. Have you heard about that album? The one that got cracking reviews but never came out because Ministry Of Sound pulled the plug on David Holmes' 13 Amp label? Well, it's finally been released and it's bloody great. Joy Zipper are Vinny Cafiso and Tabitha Tindale, a partnership from New York who produce sun-blessed cryptic pop: all boy/girl harmonies, relaxed melodies and quirky keyboards. It's pleasant and sedate but there are also dark and twisted undertones that make it subtly brilliant. And while IÕm here, their eponymous first album is equally terrific.Joy Zipper Š American Whip, released 22 March 04 on 13 Amp/Vertigo.
