two lone swordsmen 'wrong meeting' two lone swordsmen
wrong meeting
(rgc)
Techno men turn teddy boys.

Moving ever further away from the skunk-stoned electro that made Two Lone Swordsmen’s name, veteran tastemakers Andy Weatherall and Keith Tenniswood here serve up a self-consciously rough-arsed collection of songs that are closer in sound and spirit to rockabilly, dub and post-punk than they are techno. Some of Weatherall’s gruffly sung lyrics might not bear up to close inspection – Rattlesnake Daddy is fist-bitingly bad – but Wrong Meeting is more about mood, weight and texture than it is crafted songwriting. Flawed but fun.

Joe Madden 19 April 07 rating of 3 and 1/2
Two Lone Swordsmen - Wrong Meeting, released 23 April 07 on Rotters Golf Club.
