city guide - sheffield
by: emujuice, Frankie Roberto  Monday 05 January 2004
This guide based on this thread: F112583?thread=343911

Sheffield - not the most pretty of cities, nor the warmest, but it does have a few things.

* Trams. Everyone loves trams, they're such a novelty.

* Centre for Popular Music. Closed down now, due to lack of funding. or something. the building looks kinda interesting from the outside though. Rumour is that the museum is going to be Hallam University's new union.

* Sheffield student uni. Has a great venue in the basement of the main union building, which plays host to some good club and band nights.

* Countryside. In Sheffield there's totally fantastic countryside on everyone's doorstep - no one in Sheffield has to go more then ten minutes before being in the best countryside around.

* Shops. Avoid Meadowhell at all costs, and stick with Division St, Fargate and the Moor in town for great shops.

* Cinema. Don't go to the Odeon in town, catch a tram to the UGC for massive screens and comfy seats, or the Showroom for arts films and Ben and Jerry's ice-cream.

* Clubs. If Republic isn't your style (although surely everyone likes one of the nights there) then try Corporation for some rock and indie. Have fun and wrap up warm.
