easy riders, raging bulls dvd

Hollywood's good old bad old days.

Or How The Sex’n’Drugs’n’Rock’n’Roll Generation Saved Hollywood. Based on Peter Biskind's 1998 bestselling book, Kenneth Bowser’s absorbing doc examines the golden era in the 70s when everything went better with coke and flares, especially if you were a maverick filmmaker in Elvis shades. At least until the fun stopped in 1980, when Heaven’s Gate tanked and the cult of the box office took over. With original behind-the-scenes footage and frank confessions from battle-scarred talking heads like Dennis Hopper and the spaced out Karen Black, it’s all so much more interesting than reading words. Extras Over 100 minutes of equally fascinating bonus footage, including an interview with Biskind. (9/10) Jonathan Carter 21 November 03

Easy Riders, Raging Bulls, out now on Metrodome Distribution.
