![]() hot fuzz review
Buddy brilliant. After zombie gore-fest Shaun Of The Dead, the team behind cult comedy Spaced turn their comic sights to another kind of unforeseen nuisance - geriatric villagers. Simon Pegg dons his helmet as supercop Nicholas Angel, shunted off to the countryside for being far too efficient. But when a masked killer starts wreaking havoc he discovers that rural life isn’t just about cakes, fetes and missing swans. Spoofing Hollywood cop buddy action movies with fiendish hilarity, TV murder mysteries also come in for a gentle ribbing with a finesse that would make even Miss Marple proud. Criminally good. Hot Fuzz, on national release 16 February 07.

This was so funny! I loved it! I wasn't expecting it to be so gory though! Simon Pegg's is awesome as Officer Angel! Jog on!

Whats wrong with you thetowerbridgefox? It's a spoof of American Action films, that's why it contains American action film-esque scenes!

I was really looking forward to this - I was a massive fan of Spaced and whilst SotD wasn't perfect, I thought that also had some great moments.I didn't want to get my hopes up too much, but I was well-chuffed with Hot Fuzz. TowerBridgeFox and I clearly have very different senses of humour, because for me (and the rest of the cinema I was in), Hot Fuzz had tons of funny moments. As for "gun worship", I'm sorry but I think you miss the point completely (and take it far too seriously). Did you also think that Shaun of the Dead glorified chopping people's heads off? These are affectionate parodies of genre films that many of us feel nostalgic about. Sorry if that sounds a tad pretentious but that's how I'd describe them if someone needed an explanation! Because films need to be successful in the mainstream, in a way that TV series don't, I think both SotD and HF fall short of the heights reached by Spaced, but even so this was very, very funny and well worth a couple of viewings.

Simon Pegg gives a commanding performance, and it has a few funny jokes,But the plot falls into to a tedium that flashy editing and action sequences cant over come. And all the gun worship turned me off. If they make a sequel they should forget about pointlessly imitating scenes from American action films and concentrate on Observation based story.

An essential film. Have seen it twice and will not hesitate to go again.Edgar Wright's direction is as energetic and snappy as SotD and Spaced, perhaps even more so, since both Wright and Pegg obviously have a vast knowledge and fascination with police action films. The references are many but this doesn't do any harm, indeed the running jokes that come from SotD and Wright's favourites Point Blank, The Super Cops and Bad Boys II made me feel as if I've got a password to a club of theirs, one I'm not likely to leave soon. Being a Bristolian, I even forgive them the pisstaking of our horrific but yet dear accent.

I wasn't introduced to Shaun of the Dead til long after it was out on DVD and I felt like I'd missed out so I can't wait to see this on the big screen!
