Veterans of the US punk circuit in their mid-20s, The Gossip deliver their third long-player after the ubiquitous single and title track Standing In The Way Of Control - a furious bass-driven pogo written in response to the Bush administration's banning of gay marriage. What sets this Arkansas three-piece apart is Beth Ditto’s voice – by turns raw and soulful it recalls that of another Southern sister – Janis Joplin. Ditto’s bellow, combined with the taut backwoods boogie of tracks like Listen Up make this a secret worth passing on. Gossip - Standing In The Way Of Control, released 31 July 06 on Backyward.
