Cutting edge. The raw materials used by The Knife - buzzing mid-range synths, guileless electro rhythms, FX-warped vocals - ought to mark this Swedish brother-and-sister act out as witless hangers-on at the fizzled-out electroclash party. And yet Silent Shout - their third album - is as fresh, fearless and immersive as modern pop music gets. A dramatic baroque stew of Kate Bush, Erasure and Throbbing Gristle, it’ll leave Razorlight fans reeling in baffled disgust, which ought to be recommendation enough. The Knife - Silent Shout, released 11 December 06 on Brille.

The most fascinating album of the year - dark, sharp beats and hypnotising vocals. Excellent live show as well.
