lfo 'sheath'

Something for the weekend.

Dancefloor veterans will tell you that the mark of a proper warehouse rave is that film of black oily cack that’s stuck to your skin when you stumble outside. And although there are traces of his work on Björk’s Homogenic in the keening violins and hissing beats of Nevertheless, all that highbrow hobnobbing hasn’t cleaned the grime from Mark Bell’s sound. Mum-Man and Freak are viscerally twisted barbs of beats, while even the beatless interludes like Premacy deal in frequencies which shake the bones as well as the brain. (7/10) Paul Clarke 19 September 03

LFO – Sheath, out 15 September 03 on Warp Records.
