More 'Tet It’s a truism that the criteria for reviewing and those for buying with your own cash are very different. So, while that envelope-pushing experimental promo makes for interesting copy and neatly defines a scene, do you actually wanna hear it more than once? So yeah, we’ve mentioned him before, and Hebden’s club mix isn’t going to give MOS the wobbles, but for large and avant-garde bangs for your buck you could do much worse. There’s a glorious mix into Curtis Mayfield’s If I Were Only A Child Again, the ultra-rare Madlib ST101 afro-beat rejig of Madvillain’s Figaro and Autechre’s criminal justice bill-confounding, non-repetitive beats rave anthem, Flutter. Not to mention ‘Tet faves Animal Collective, Akufen and the exclusive artist track, Pockets. Appropriately, this is a smart way to spend the money in yours. Four Tet - DJ Kicks, released 19 June 06 on K7.
