I’m a disco dancer. With many dance music producers fighting declining interest in their genre by watering down their output with nods to more voguish styles such as indie or hip-hop, it’s pleasing to hear an act unashamed to fashion instrumental tracks aimed squarely at disco dancers. Not that Movements is lowest-common-denominator four-four by any means – tracks like Darko contain aquatic acid lines and oblique melodies more than worthy of home-listening – but there is a real physicality to these stripped, pristine tech-house workouts that only the most funk-phobic of bodies could fail to be animated by. Booka Shade – Movements, released 05 June 06 on Get Physical.
