![]() down in the valley
The last chance saloon. It's obviously the year of the cowboy. Now, on the spurs of Brokeback Mountain, comes this intriguing number starring Edward Norton as a cowboy born in the wrong era. Set in the present-day San Fernando Valley, Ed lassooes his way into the heart of way-too-young Evan Rachel Wood, much to the chagrin of her father. However, the great premise and perfectly pitched early scenes soon become a tawdry trot into a dilapidated saloon. Worse, the characters soon stop being charming and become annoying. Sometimes they don't shoot horses fast enough, do they? Down In The Valley, on general release 26 May 06.
